The lofty ruined castle that towers over the village below is ample
evidence of the popularity of the picturesque village of Lichtenberg
with knights of old. In fact, this ruined castle dominates the
surrounding countryside in much the same way as the nearby castle at
Chur or the walls of Glorenza. The castle was built on a sheer mountain
top in the thirteenth century.
